Our service was great! Our server took the time to describe the dishes we ordered to make sure we were getting what we expected. This extra step really helps make sure you’re getting what you want. Food was delicious. Server checked on us several times. He was very attentive. It was also nice to see there was support for the staff (who provided water refills, take out boxes etc).

This restaurant does not have double door at entrance - so a lot of cold draft kept on coming every time main entrance door was opened.

Server does not understand English. Does not know food, wine. Does not poor the wine. Does not clean away used/dirty plates. We literall had to place them on the floor to make room for food.
Our evening started out fine - Good wine, great soup and then WOW - 2 very noisy couples sat next to us and then the other table had to talk over them and even the waiter had to shout! No fault of the restaurant - you cannot tell people to lower their voices because they are disturbing others= bad business, but there are always inconsiderate people. Walked out with a terrific headache - THank goodness the food and service were excellent.
The food was literally so delicious!!!!! We’ve been a few times over the last couple years and the food was better this time than it’s ever been! Wonder if they got a new chef or something?! Highly satisfied and we will be back for sure!
Even though it was super busy when we arrived at 7pm we were seated immediately. The service was fast, efficient and as always, friendly. My friend had chicken korma and I had lamb saag. The food was delicious and perfectly spiced. Blue Taj is my favorite restaurant in Charlotte.
When my granddaughter comes to visit from Florida we make it our "Go to restaurant" Our favorite dish is Matar-mushroom-Corn- Never disappointed - this time we tried a spinach/garbanzo dish which was excellent - on our list.

Disappointed in the menu selections. All they had was a pre fixed 3 course menu or same food could be ordered ala carte. It’s a deal to order the price fixed and take home leftovers if you don’t finish them. My wife ordered a first and second course for the same price I had a three course. I didnt know this until we were on the way home. I told her she should have ordered the cicken to take home.
Tasty. We went for dinner this time but preferred the experience we had at lunch with the courses and better deals. Our dinner did not include anything but rice.

We no longer live in Charlotte, but when we come back to visit we always go to Blue Tai. The lunch specials are a great value - soup, naan, entree & sorbet. The coconut tomato soup is delicious. Service is always great.

Quiet atmosphere, waiter did not rush dinner, outstanding food, attentive service but not intrusive. As we were not sure what to order, the waiter asked a few questions about protein type, spice level and sauce and then recommended the perfect entree to meet each of our criteria. He knew his options and put in an order that "hit it out of the park."

The curries and rice were excellent, as always. However we had to order vegetables as extras as they would not be otherwise included, as is the case with some other Indian Restaraunts.

There is a large partition that separates two halves of the restaurant. One that has natural light, airy feel and a view and we seem to always sit on the other side of the partition.

Our lamb dish for $19 was so tasty. Our vegetable korma was not as stellar. Naan was fresh and yummy. Prices a bit high for our budget.

The wine cooler was broken therefore had to wait 30 minutes for it to cool which is OK. However, should have been brought at least a glass of house wine in the meantime. By the time the wine was cool the food was already on the table. It's nice to linger a bit with a drink and conversation beforehand. The restaurant also needs small stands for the bottle to sit on. It was on the small table and took up half of my space for eating. The plates were so large I put the food on a saucer to be able to fit everything in the space. When I sat the bottle on the floor i caused a puddle. (not safe)In addition, the plates should be cleared off the table once the food is finished. They were left until the end.

The waitress answered many questions for us in regard to the difference in dishes and we took her suggestions which were great. I assume you mean overall dining experience is based on the food and service - My overall dining experience is the noise that some people create - we sat next to a party of 6 young women who were so noisy that my friend and I had to shout - walked out with a terrific headache. It's too bad when customers are so inconsiderate of other diners and management cannot or does not want to let them know they are disturbing other diners for fear of losing business - thank goodness the food and service were outstanding.

We initially tried to enjoy lunch on my daughters birthday but arrived a couple mins past two. The door says they are open until 2:30. They refused to seat us even though it was only 2:03 and a special occasion. We were told no one else would serve us either. It was very upsetting as it was what my daughter wanted on her birthday. Fortunately, Bahn Thai was happy to seat us at 2:15 and we had a fantastic lunch there with a free bday dessert. We did come back to Blue Taj a few days later as my cousin wanted Indian food. We arrived at 5pm and were seated outside in the sun....after we finished eating they finally pulled the screen down which made it more comfortable. The food is pretty good although small portions.

Service was very slow - it took over 40 minutes for our entrees to come out. It's a good thing we ordered an appetizer, because at least that came out in a reasonable time, and helped hold us over while we waited. And we had to ask more than once for drinks to be refilled and for extra sauce, etc.
Food...very goodAtmosphere...very good2 negatives on this visit. Jackie is excellent, however, if she does not wait on you good luck. Most of us are unfamiliar with Indian food and need someone to explain what we are ordering. (in English) Having a waiter who does not understand us and we do not understand him is way too frustrating when you are out spending $$$. It also ends up bringing us items we do not really want.Also...eating out worldwide at least 3X @ week we NEVER had a Martini as stingy as here. Moving forward we would only order wine.

Blue Taj is a good restaurant, but could improve service. Also, my wife and i requested that our food be spicy (4-5) while the couple we were with requested very little spice (1-2). All the entrees were good, but bland (very little spice).

Overall, the experience was excellent. The food was great. The waitress was unpretentious and took time to describe the dishes. We thought that it was odd that the gratuity was included for only a party of 4. Haven't heard of that for smaller groups. It is probably the same amount we would have left, but, still, like to have the choice.
The selection was extensive and the wait staff knowledgeable about the menu. Our waitress made two recommendations and both were excellent. Food arrived soon after appetizers and was plentiful. Will definitely go back.

Our hostess was one of the frendliest I've ever had, and our server was super knowledgeable. He made great recommendations and took good care of us. And, most importantly, the food was amazing. It always is. They are so consistent, and we will continue to eat here.

We have dined here a few times, sometimes with friends and sometimes as a couple. The food and service is always very good! Having a discount coupon makes it even more enticing.
Only thing that would have made the experience better was if all diners weren't piled up in one tiny room. *and we had to ask for silverware three times after service was taken with our appetizer. But the food was wonderful, flavorful and the experience was overall very good.

We have been to Blue Taj at least 15-20 times and have always had excellent service and food quality. Tonight my husband made a big deal about us being vegetarian and choosing a vegetarian dish yet they brought an order of chicken tikka masala. The food was excellent. The wait staff was okay but had to ask several times for specific thing. I gave my appetizer order and the waiter assumed I was ordering for myself and husband, he didn't think to ask if the order was for just me or both of us. Then he ran off and I had to flag him down so my husband could order his appetizer also. Staff needs better training. They are not bad, just not very efficient.

Our server was spectacular. We had issues with our restaurants.com certificate and my wife ordered the wrong item, but in both occasions, he couldn't have been more accomodating.
The overall experience was great, however, the greeters/hostess was terrible. I waited about 10 minutes before i was acknowledged. I had a reservation, there were plenty of table open and they treated me as if i was inconveniencing them by asking to dine outside. I waited 10 minutes for my other party to arrive after i was seated and no one approached me to welcome me or offer to get me a a drink while I waited. Once the server came over he was great from that point on, but my intial 20 minutes impression was terrible. I considered leaving and dining at a nearby establishment.
Blue Taj is the best Indian restaurant in Charlotte. The server was very impressive and created a dish based on dieatary needs for a person in the party that suffers from food allergies. EXCELLENT all the way around!!
We thought the food was very good. However, we ordered 2 drinks, 1 appetizer and 2 entrees. The cost with Tip was $51. Without the coupon, the cost would have been $76. $38 each is really too expensive for an Indian resturant.
On Saturday Nights they are very busy and the service was a bit slow as a result. But the food quality is excellent.

The Goat curry was too full of bones; easily more bones than meat. One of our party asked for a level 1 spicy (very mild), the dish when it arrived was about a '3' (out of 5).
The food was OK but the quality of the meat (lamb) was not the best. All in all, it was too expensive for what we got. It was also extremely noisy, which is not pleasant. I am not sure if we will go back.
Our waiter was phenomenal! His recommendations were perfect. The only negative was the time we waited to pay the bill since we were on a time frame. We will definitely go back (with friends!)

The food & server were fantastic as usual. One minor complaint was the attitude of the lady at the welcome desk. She was quite surly & not very communicative. It seemed to be a problem finding us a table even though we said we didn't mind two tables of four or one table for 8.
The only problem I had is that the restaurant is way too dark. I could not read the menu without a small flashlight. Also, the visual appeal of our dishes are also importnt, and this is lost in this very dark, poorly lit restaurant. Lightng can be soft and intimate to provide intimacy, and yet,still provide a pleasureable visual experiences.
Our waitress was very personable! Along with delcious food it made for a great dinner.

Our server was amazing - he suggested things, helped guide us through the menu, and helped us make decisions regarding our food selections to make sure we would be happy with them. He 'suggestively sold' us some bread (garlic naan) to go with our meal, which we wanted from the beginning, but forgot to ask for initially. The food was amazing, and the portion sizes were perfect! Overall it was a wonderful experience, and we will be back soon!!

The food was excellent. Flavor, texture, temperature and spice were all excellent. I eat out 3 times a day 7 days a week and I must say that the food on this dining event was excellent. A special comment about the service – The service at this restaurant is outstanding. The individual who seated us and took our food order always remembers us and what foods we order. He remembers the spice levels and lots of other details. We eat here about once a month and it’s always one of the highlights of the month for me. Please keep making the wonderful food!

The food was great. The only issue was their spice meter of 1-5. I ordered the Saag Paneer and asked for a 2, but it seemed like a 0 or 1, with very little spice to it. My girlfriend ordered the chicken tikka masala as a 3, but it was more like a 2. I also ordered the chicken 'frazzle' with a 3 and it was also more like a 2. So if we go back we are definitely asking for 5's all around. The bartender was cool, not too conversational, but very friendly and pleasant.

Our favorite aspect of Blue Taj is the staff. They are very welcoming! Even if they haven't seen us for months, they know us by name and that our children have a dairy allergy. They immediately know what they would propose to cook for them and in case we forgot what we had the prior time.. they always remember! Some serious commitment! It makes you feel like you are truly a special guest. We truly enjoy them.

The service on this dine was A+, the cleanliness and all other aspects of this dine was A+. On this particular dine the chicken tikka masala flavor was an “A” – it was missing some of the normal Smokey flavor but it was still extremely good.

I have eaten at a large number of Indian restaurants around the US and have eaten at my Indian friends' houses and parties, and this is the best Indian food I have ever had.
The food did not meet my standards of "spicyness". I go to the restaurant often and they don't always meet my standards of spicyness. I have been told to say double Indian spicy because level 5 wasn't spicy enough. I said double Indian spicy today and it tasted like level 4. I want to go back again in hope of the originals flavors I fell in love with!

If you do not make a reservation on the weekend the seating is terrible. You do not get the full ambiance of the restaurant if you have to sit in the area near the door. When it is cold the wind draft from the door opening is brutal. I would like to try it again and make a reservation so I can get in the middle of the restaurant and experience the full ambiannce.

We normally visit Blue Taj for lunch, however, this certificate allowed us to go for dinner. On a scale of 1 to 5 (5=best), Blue Taj is a 10. They have incredible staff, chef, and approach to customer and business. They are sincere in building relationships with customers and are very accomodating and understanding of food allergies - the ONLY restaurant in town it feels like who accomodates happily for allergies. During this shop the hot chi tea we ordered did not come out until our meal came out. In fact we had to ask for it. The nan bread was also not brought out with our meal. When we pointed all this out to the server he went back and found that that some kind of machine that sends the bread order and the hot tea order did not print in the back where these items could be processed by the kitchen. We noticed the food service was a bit slower than normal. Overall we were still very satisfied with the dining experience and this may have been a onetime event but this survey should maybe be compared to others and make sure total overall service is not slipping.

I think I like their other restaurant Copper much better. Ambience, food are better. Also, location of BT is far for me. For the price of the items on the menu, the restaurant does not offer much. the server didn't bring out what we asked her to in the beginning. I visit blue taj often and this was by far the worst experience I have had there. Usually the service is pleasant and we always receive papad when we arrive this time we didn't even receive it when we asked and had to remind her again when food came out. We would have asked again sooner but she didn't come over again to check up on us. It almost makes me consider revisiting again. We always order a certain dish off of the menu and she said they never make dishes off the menu. We told her to make our food extra spicy (level 5) like we always do but according to her we ordered wrong so it's not her fault that she put the order in for indian spicy and not "double" indian spicy. Basically the food and service were really bad!
Service was very slow last night. Seated close to 7:45pm and didn't finish until 9:45. Seemed they were understaffed or couldn't handle the amount of people on a Friday night.

The server said the entree size was 22 oz. I doubt it was half that size. Prices are higher than we expected.
I enjoyed my food, but some in my party didn't. There was also an issue with the bill in that we had a $25 coupon, put $20 on a cr. cd. and paid the rest in cash which came to the total amount of the bill including taxes & tip. The server seemed confused and said we overpaid by $40 (I am glad he was concerned about us). I re-counted in front of him but he didn't seem to be too sure about it so now I'm wondering about whether we overpaid as well.
