Dr. Kenneth C. Chessick was named CEO of Restaurant.com in December 2011. Dr. Chessick is Chairman of the Board of Directors, and as a prime creator of the company, he has been closely involved in the operations of Restaurant.com since its inception in 1999.
Under Dr. Chessick’s dynamic leadership, Restaurant.com has improved its infrastructure and introduced many innovative products and services, focusing on the needs of the diner and the restaurant. These efforts have resulted in substantial growth, increased revenue nationally, and improved profitability. Dr. Chessick has been instrumental in developing and launching innovative products and programs, including the company’s mobile app; limited certificate restrictions; increased certificate denominations; Verified Diner Ratings & Reviews; Helping Business Division expansion; Partner Advantage Program; Double Deals; Telesales; Group Sales; and the Independent Consultant initiative. Integral to Restaurant.com’s success has been Dr. Chessick’s ability to attract, select, motivate, and retain outstanding employees and agents as his core philosophy is that none of the company’s success could happen without a stellar team of professionals.
Restaurant.com has executed Dr. Chessick’s vision to evolve from designing web sites for restaurants to an online presence which enhances the dining experience and value for millions of diners and helps tens of thousands of restaurants increase revenue, fill tables, and reduce operating costs. Dr. Chessick graduated from the University of Illinois in 1965 with bachelors’ degrees in zoology and psychology. He graduated from the University Of Illinois College Of Medicine in 1968, completed his surgical training at the Michael Reese Hospital, the Hines VA Hospital, and Boston City Hospitals in 1973, and was certified by the American Board of Surgery in 1974. Dr. Chessick attended a cardiovascular and thoracic fellowship at the University of Florida in 1979. Dr. Chessick practiced general, vascular, and cancer surgery in Illinois and Florida for 28 years before retiring from the practice of surgery in 2002.
Dr. Chessick attended Northern Illinois University College of Law, earning a Juris Doctorate, cum laude, in 1984. Dr. Chessick founded The Law Office of Kenneth C. Chessick, M.D., a law firm devoted to protecting the rights of victims of medical, hospital, and other negligence.
Dr. Chessick and his wife, Ellen, devote philanthropic leadership, time, and funding to Northern Illinois University, which included creating the Kenneth C. Chessick Legal Skills Training Center at the College of Law, the Kenneth C. Chessick Civil Justice Endowed Scholarship Program, and the Kenneth and Ellen Chessick Practice Center. Their lead gift is the largest ever made to Northern Illinois Athletics and the second-largest ever given to the university. Dr. Chessick contributes as a member of the Board of Directors of the NIU Foundation.
Dr. Chessick was awarded Distinguished Alumnus of the Year by Northern Illinois University in 2001 and Northern Illinois University College of Law Alumnus of the Year 2012. Dr. Chessick has two daughters and two grandchildren and resides in the Chicago area.
